  • Tyler Johnston is the Chief Executive Officer of Berg Enterprises, Inc. (BEI), a family-owned company providing turnkey HVAC, mechanical, plumbing & pipefitting services in select commercial and federal markets. Tyler is responsible for setting and driving the strategic direction of the firm and managing relationships with external stakeholders.

    Prior to that, he developed distributed energy and infrastructure partnerships at Black & Veatch across commercial and industrial markets. He also collaborated with project developers, SaaS providers, and various forms of capital to bring to market new projects and technologies to accelerate revenue for the partner consortium and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

    Tyler has spent the past decade working in business development roles across energy and tech. This includes client-facing roles at NRG Energy and General Electric, where he developed and executed distributed energy deals with Fortune 500 clients across the US & EU.

    Tyler began his career as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he led combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He holds a BS from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

    Tyler’s wife, Alicia Beth, is a behavioral health consultant @ Kaiser Permanente. Together they advise and/or hold equity in multiple interesting businesses, including Shift.org, Airspace Experience Technologies, and Cleartrace. They also volunteer with organizations focused on sustainable infrastructure and the social determinants of health, including Target Hunger, a 501(c)(3) where Tyler serves on the board.

 
 
  • As Chief Operating Officer, Cress reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for managing and overseeing BEI’s daily operations. This includes project and services execution, workforce and asset management, and procurement activities. Cress also holds P&L responsibility for national projects, regional projects, and services across our global portfolio.

    While he currently calls Houston home, Cress was raised in North Carolina. After graduating from NC State, he served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. Cress has also worked with various non-profit organizations serving the local community, including Travis Manion Foundation and Combined Arms. He comes to us from Harvey Builders, where he helped manage projects in some of Houston's most iconic buildings.

 
 
  • As CFO, Chip leads BEI’s financial operations including FP&A, budget and investment planning, and capital raising initiatives. He is tasked with tracking the company’s financial health, securing outside capital to drive strategic growth, and working closely with operations to optimize profitability and return on investment for shareholders.

    Chip has served in advisory roles as an investment banker for over fifteen years; most recently at Moelis and Barclays. Prior to that, he worked in the secondary private equity markets. Additionally, he enjoys pursuing investment and advisory in private companies. 

    He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MSc from Columbia University, and a BA from Hobart College. He also holds FINRA Series 7, 79, & 63 licenses. Chip enjoys hockey, golf, tennis and skiing. He lives in New Canaan, CT with his wife Sandi and their four children.
