Safety.
At Berg’s, we are committed to the health, safety, and welfare of all employees.
We also want to ensure that our work is never an undue hazard to the people we work around. In order to maintain these goals, our company has implemented a comprehensive worker-led safety program that incentivizes safe practices on all projects.
-
All Berg’s commercial employees receive the same directive regarding safety. This is included in the job description of each employee, regardless of position or trade:
Walk the site in an observant manner.
Take notice of hazards and, when appropriate, correct them accordingly.
Develop an awareness of the entire project, to include other tradework.
In addition to the above directive, Berg’s employees are issued and expected to wear a standard set of personal protective equipment (PPE) on all active job sites. This includes a hardhat, hi-vis vest, gloves, and glasses. Additional PPE is always provided as necessary, including kevlar sleeves, face shields, fall protection, respiratory protection, and more.
-
Berg’s employs a combination of standard operating procedures and project-tailored safety plans to ensure that risk is managed on each jobsite. We maintain a standard package of plans for common hazards, such as fall protection plans, HAZCOM plans, SDS binders, and more. However, because each jobsite is different, our office support team and our field leaders work together to craft customized safety plans to meet the special needs of each project. We are always ready and willing to comply with the unique safety documentation standards of each client’s project, from commercial general contractors, to federal installations, to heavy industrial sites.
-
In order to ensure safe practices are followed by all employees, Berg incentivizes foremen, superintendents, and project managers to maintain safe standards on every project they are assigned to. In order to be eligible for this program, leaders must maintain the following standards throughout each quarter.
Jobsite Recordable Accident Prevention:
0 Jobsite Recordable Accidents occur on any projects assigned to the leader
Jobsite Recordable Accidents occur involving any employee under the leader’s administrative responsibility, even if it is on another site.
Safety Certifications
Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen must maintain OSHA 30 certification at a minimum.
All employees assigned must maintain OSHA 10 certification at a minimum.
Site Safety Audits
Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen are required to perform a detailed written safety audit of at least one Berg project per month.
Project leaders that maintain the above standards throughout the quarter will receive a safety bonus check.
